Lysander is the Director in charge of the Cost Planning Team of Arcadis (legacy Langdon & Seah). She has been responsible for the production of project estimates, cost plans and feasibility studies for numerous institutional, hotel, medical, commercial, industrial, residential, recreational, transportation, infrastructural and civil engineering projects. She is also leading the cost data research and analysis for the Company.
Lysander supervises the production of Quarterly Construction Cost Review, Construction Cost Handbook and International Construction Costs which are published by Arcadis quarterly or yearly. She is also responsible for the Tender Price Index compiled by Arcadis. All these publications provide the insight on the trend of construction costs for the construction industry.
Lysander is glad to share the basics of cost planning, lessons learnt from her real life projects and some key points for the RICS/HKIS APC candidates to note in answering APC questions.

Content Outline
- A review of how an estimate is established utilising different sources of cost data and basing on a cost plan at the pre-contract stage. Common errors will be explained.
- An explanation of estimating by approximate quantities and cost planning techniques so that an appropriate estimating method can be chosen for a particular construction project.
- Hands-on exercises provided to help participants to acquire a better understanding of these different techniques.
- Case sharing with practical examples.
