BUILT FOR AFFORDABILITY
In this section you will find details of various funds available to either new or continuing students, based on financial need and individual circumstances.
This funding is aimed at helping those studying at undergraduate level, and is therefore currently only available for our bachelor degree programmes.To apply for a bursary from UCEM, you must first be offered a place on a programme. Follow these five steps to make your application:
- Apply for your chosen UCEM undergraduate programme
- Receive an offer to study on the programme (this can take up to 10 working days and is dependent on you providing all of the documentation the Admissions team required to make an assessment of your eligibility
- Complete a New Student Bursary Application Form
- Proof of income must be provided to support your application. Please send the supporting documents to finance@ucem.ac.uk
- If your application is successful, you will be notified before the course start date

With economic uncertainly affecting all areas of the globe we try to offer support to existing students who find themselves in temporary financial difficulty due to redundancy.There is a potential discount of up to 75% available for those who find themselves out of work due to redundancy at the time of re-registration. Students must be able to demonstrate that they have been made redundant and have not left employment voluntarily.
This package is open to existing students on all of UCEM’s courses from all countries.
To apply, please complete this Redundancy Support Application Form. Applicants must provide evidence of their redundancy. This should be in the form of a letter from the previous employer confirming the redundancy and the entitled settlement. Copies of the last 3 months bank statements are also required to consider the application.

The Principal’s Discretionary Fund can award bursaries to assist current UCEM students in financial difficulties due to sudden and unexpected circumstances, who may not meet the criteria of UCEM’s other bursary schemes.
This may include, for example, financial help for students who suffer serious ill health or are having to cope with a family bereavement. To apply for assistance from this fund, students should write, in the first instance, to the Principal setting out full details of their circumstances and email it to finance@ucem.ac.uk. Students must also provide copies of the last 3 months bank statements to support their application. All requests will be dealt with on a confidential basis.

University College of Estate Management (UCEM) will fund *up to 50% of the UCEM postgraduate programme fee for a limited number of new students who have demonstrated outstanding academic ability and financial need.

Who is eligible?
Applicants in any country who can demonstrate a strong academic record in their previous studies, for example, a Bachelor degree classification of a first or 2.1, or equivalent, are eligible to apply. We particularly welcome applications from international, BAME, LGBTQ+, disabled, lower socio-economic and care leaver candidates.
How will the scholarships be awarded?
Your application will be assessed and if you meet the scholarship criteria, you will be invited for a virtual interview to discuss your academic achievements and your ambitions for your career in the Built Environment.
A discount of up to 50% will be awarded to those students who have demonstrated previous academic excellence and whom the UCEM Bursaries Working Group believe will be most helped by receiving the support.

How do I apply?
You must have received an offer to study on a UCEM MSc or MBA to be able to apply for this scholarship. Once this has been received for the relevant intake, you need to:
- Complete this PG MSc 50% Scholarship Form
- Provide evidence of academic excellence – this might be in the form of a testimonial or academic reference. Your certificates and transcripts will already have been provided as part of your application, but you may wish to provide further evidence).
- Provide financial evidence – your last three pay slips, your last two months’ bank statements and/or evidence of receipt of benefits if unemployed.

Are there any exclusions?
The Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme is not available for Postgraduate Single Module, Postgraduate Access Programme or for applicants whose study will be partly or fully funded by an employer or by the UK Government Apprenticeship Scheme. Please note that there is a separate form for the MSc Innovation in Sustainable Built Environments
Any retake fees incurred will not form part of the scholarship award and will be due in full.

UCEM Students who are Hong Kong permanent residences will be eligible to apply for the Extended Non-means-tested Loan Scheme (ENLS) from Student Finance Office of HKSAR Government.
